About Timothy Dragan

Greetings, and thank you for visiting! My name is Timothy Dragan. I was born in Australia to Romanian immigrants who fled the oppressive communist regime in the latter half of the 20th century, seeking religious and political freedom. This rich cultural heritage and legacy of perseverance have profoundly shaped my values and aspirations.

Professionally, I work as a Consultant in the recruitment industry, bringing prior experience in operations, project and procurement management, as well as business administration. In 2022, I also stood as a Liberal Party candidate for the Victorian Parliament. However, my intellectual pursuits extend well beyond my professional roles. I have a deep and insatiable interest in theology and philosophy, politics and law, literature and art, economics, and science, and I am committed to the lifelong pursuit of wisdom and truth across disciplines.

I hold a Diploma of Ministry (2015) from Harvest Bible College (Melbourne) and I am currently completing a Bachelor of Theology at Ridley College (Melbourne), with anticipated graduation at the end of 2025 after six years of part-time study. In parallel with my academic formation, I serve as a Teaching Fellow at Maranatha Romanian Baptist Church, where I am actively involved in leading congregational worship, preaching, teaching, and facilitating Bible studies. I also participate in our church choir, embracing the beauty and spiritual depth of sacred music.

Throughout my life, I have been inspired by several luminaries who have shaped and expanded my worldview and contributed to my personal and professional growth. Steve Jobs instilled in me the art of communication, innovative thinking, and business strategies. R.C. Sproul greatly influenced my theological and philosophical understanding, with an integration of theology, philosophy, literature and art in the Christian life. And Robert Menzies introduced me to political thought and the classical liberalism (my American friends, please don't confuse this with progressive liberalism) that shapes my political beliefs and inspires me to be a responsible and engaged citizen. Naturally, there have been numerous other remarkable individuals who have influenced me.

When it comes to literature and film, I have a discerning taste that reflects my appreciation for beauty and the complexity of human experience. Among the many books I have read, my favorite fictional novel is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Its thrilling plot, with intricate character development, and timeless themes of revenge, redemption and justice continue to captivate and stimulate me. As for film, The Swan, featuring the wonderful Grace Kelly, is a favourite, evoking a sense of timeless elegance, grace and sophistication that resonates with my own sense of aesthetics.

Above all, my Christian faith is the cornerstone of my life and worldview. It inflames my desire to seek that which is true, good, and beautiful—ideals beautifully expressed in Philippians 4:8, a verse that serves as both a personal guide and a thematic inspiration for my writing and reflection. However, in seeking these ideals, I seek to keep them captive to Christ and live in obedience of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

My interests include mentoring, reading and studying, writing, debating, hiking, Australian politics, singing, being mesmerised in classical and gothic architecture, and immersing myself in classical and choral music.
