This article examines Nicholas Ridley’s doctrine of the Eucharist, arguing that he upheld a real spiritual presence of Christ mediated by grace, rejecting transubstantiation while maintaining more than a mere memorial view. Situated within the theological currents of the English Reformation, it also considers how Ridley’s sacramental theology contributed to his trial and martyrdom.
